Expected results
  1. Capacities of 10 CSOs dealing with social service providing, coming from less developed area in Serbia – Sandzak (Novi Pazar, Sjenica, Tutin, Prijepolje, Priboj, Nova Varoš) were built through this project.
  2. CSOs were strengthened to achieve an active role in decision making processes. Manual for CSOs developed under this project can be found here.
  3. The established regional and local CSO platforms, through exchange of experiences and good practice examples will contribute to more adequate response to the needs of beneficiaries.  
  4. Public and civil sector cooperation is improved with the aim of ensuring social inclusion of vulnerable groups.
  5. Local, regional and national media directly participated in action by reporting and informing citizens on the action activities.
  6. Vulnerable and marginalized groups were informed and got better access to social services tailored according to their needs.
  7. Citizens and the general public are informed about successful examples of CSOs influencing decision making processes in the social service providing area.
Beneficiary

Social care services’ beneficiaries, CSOs in Serbia (currently, there are more than 24.000 formally registered CSOs and it is estimated that at least 5.000 are primarily dealing with social issues), government and local municipal actors with primary responsibilities for social policy, media and the general public/citizens. 

Summary of the project

This project is reviewing the existing local policies and documents relevant for service provision, creating needs assessments for new social services, providing capacity building sessions on social services/providers standardization and advocacy, developing a manual for service providing by CSOs, and awarding small grants to local CSOs for their advocacy efforts to improve local rules, policies and practices for providing social services.

Programme/Project objectives

This project will review the existing local policies and documents relevant for service provision including needs assessment for new social services  in 6 towns; it will organise three 3-day capacity building sessions for up to 20 CSOs on social services/providers standardization and advocacy, develop manual for service providing by CSOs; organise a series of networking and mentorship events, and award small grants to 10 local CSOs for their advocacy efforts to improve local rules, policies and practices for providing social services.
