Expected results
  1. The main result of the project will be creation of a joint Serbo-Albanian art and cultural product – a theatre production based on a famous Shakespeare play Romea and Juliet.
  2. During the life time of the project, 4 performances will be organized in Belgrade and 4 in Pristina. The targeted places of performances are national theaters. After each performance, public discussions will be organized discussing the play motives and storyline, as well as production goals, involved stakeholders, audience perception and so forth.
  3. A “behind the scenes” documentary film about the production process will be created (from castings and first discussions, to first rehearsals, impressions from the crew, media appearances and so forth). The film is planned to be shown on television channels with national coverage in both Serbia and Kosovo.
  4. Importance of the process of normalization and development of cooperation between institutions and cultural workers will be promoted.

Summary of the project

The project is stimulating an intercultural dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo to support the implementation of the Brussels Agreement (April 2013); to promote joint activities of young people, the academic community, media and civil society from Kosovo and Serbia; and to break down stereotypes on both sides by using art, culture, debate and youth exchanges in Kosovo and Serbia.

Programme/Project objectives

The project will directly support the cooperation between Kosovar and Serbian artists, artistic groups and collectives, cultural workers and culture-related state institutions (institutional theatres, Ministries of Culture), thus directly contributing to the formation of solid, self-sustaining and long-term connections between the two communities. As a result of the project implementation, a joint Serbo-Albanian art and cultural product – a theatre production based on the famous Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet, will be created and played in Belgrade and Pristina.
