The project consists of two components – Improved Business Support Services and Innovation for Competitiveness.
The aim of the first Component is to encourage and facilitate the access of small and medium sized enterprises to professional sources of information, advice and support. The Law on Regional Development of Serbia implied institutional changes requiring the development of a new model of business support. To revise the model of support, a clear process of regular, ongoing needs assessment will need to be put in place. The project will introduce a quality standards manual for business support services, regulatory documents and relevant rules for the certification of service providers, and procedures for operation of a support scheme for business support services.
The second Component addresses specifically the issues of innovation for competitiveness. The current project aims to stimulate the environment for innovation and the innovation process itself through a series of initiatives.
The project should assist government institutions to develop and coordinate actions in line with actual EU trends and Serbia’s specific needs, including support of high growth enterprises, eco innovations and the lead market initiative through consolidating the local capacity to deliver effective and standardized business support service in field of innovation, and improving long-term partnerships between Serbian institutions and SMEs and members of the international community.
