Expected results
  1. Serbian institutions and judiciary, experts and CSOs are provided with an in-depth analytical Report on the current policies and practices in prosecution of war crimes in Serbia;
  2. The communication and cooperation among representatives of Serbian institutions, judiciary and civil society is intensified, and the civil society actors are able to more actively participate in the development of strategies related to prosecution of war crimes;
  3. The Serbian Government is provided with experts’ proposal of the Strategy for Prosecution of War Crimes in Serbia;
  4. Administration of justice and transparency of on-going war crimes trials are supported and improved.

Summary of the project

This project aims to contribute to the improvement of the work of Serbian institutions and judiciary in the prosecution of war crimes. This ensures increased participation and a more active role of CSOs in identifying priorities, shaping policies, monitoring progress, and supporting the Government in its EU accession negotiations in the domain of accountability for war crimes in the context of Chapters 23 and 24 of the acquis.

Programme/Project objectives

Overall objective of the project was to contribute to strengthening of the rule of law and prevention of repetition of the war-time atrocities.
